Dragon Cake

Samuel's fourth birthday is coming up on Thursday and we had the great idea of making him a dragon cake (he has been into dragons lately, probably from watching sleeping beauty) I looked up on the internet for instructions on how to make a dragon cake. When I told Jake that I thought we should try to make one he thought it was a great idea and seemed pretty enthused to make one for Samuels birthday. I am proud to say that all this is Jake's work......he did 100% of it. All it took was 2 8" cakes, frosting , some grahm crackers for the spikes and some creativity! This cake was just a practice run. When we make the actually cake we want to put white chocolate for the spikes and horns and use red frosting for the tongue and eyes and fruit rollups for the wings. I am very impressed with Jakes cake decorating skills.....he has never done this before so I am very pleased with his work! Thanks Jake for being a wonderful dad and making Sam a dragon cake (which by the way Sam just loves!)

Can we have a Churro?

It seems that whenever we go to Costco the boys are asking to have a hot dog or a churro. It was a surprise to us that neither one of them asked for one tonight. The boys were picking on each other so Jake, trying to distract them, asked the boys if they wanted a churro and of course they took him up on the offer. It is always so fun to watch them eat their churros so I grabbed the camera to capture their messy churro faces!

Another month older!

Our sweet Ava is four months old today! It is hard to believe another month has come and gone. Ava is definitively becoming more vocal and expressive. She is developing her own little personality. She used to be a great sleeper at night but due to my being lazy, I got used to feeding her in bed and then we would both fall asleep so she has gotten used to sleeping with me and wanting to nurse all night long! She is usually up every two to three hours wanting to nurse and sleep with me! It is so hard to break that habit....I hate to let her cry for a long time....plus when she cries nobody gets any sleep!

She still refuses to take a bottle and only takes a binky occasionally. She is getting stronger pushing herself up while on her stomach and has started to show interest in some of her baby toys. She can grasp and hold on to a few toys if I open her hand up and put the toy in her hand for her. She then tries to put the toy into her mouth. She laughs all the time now especially when her brothers blow on her tummy! She isn't rolling over yet but is getting closer. She tries to turn her head and body over while in her chair or on the floor but can't quite get her body to turn all the way over. She loves to look in the mirror at herself....although I am not sure if she knows that she is looking at herself or not. She is getting bigger and bigger everyday. She is no longer our tiny newborn but a strong chubby cheek healthy infant!

Her brothers are always watching out for her as they try to make her happy when she is crying. She loves her brothers most of the time, as long as they aren't being too loud and smothering her. She loves to watch what is going on and likes some commotion and noise. We love having Ava in our family....she fits right in, it is as if she has always been with us! We love you Ava.....happy four months old baby girl!

Stop taking Pictures Mom!

This is what Sam and Jack do to me when they are tired of me taking pictures! Sam will tell me "Mom, I've had enough pictures!" Jack will usually just run away from me! I do love my boys even if they do get tired of my picture taking!

Ava's Birth Announcement

Here is the birth announcement I made for Ava. There were so many pictures that I liked, I didn't want to use just one, so I used a few of them!

Potty Time!

We decided to start potty training Jack. He has been showing us signs for a while now........longer periods of a dry diaper, wanting to be changed after he peed and wanting to wear his horsey underwear. We told him if he peed in the potty he would get a new horse......so it was off to the toy store to pick out horses. For every time he goes pee in the potty he gets a horse. That same night we picked ou the horses, he peed in the potty! He has actually peed in the potty four times and has only had 2 accidents in one day.....not too bad! We'll have to see how well this continues!
